Drawing Classes & Life Drawing

In person and online

with Susannah Pal

Why draw?

There is a transformative power in observational drawing. Many of our participants describe it as grounding and deeply fulfilling

When we respond to our visual curiosity by drawing we are engaging directly with the world around us. While looking can be enjoyable, it is still passive. Wheras truly seeing is the reward for curiosity, sustained attention, and patience.

In a digital culture shaped by immediacy, endless scrolling, and temporary dopamine hits, drawing can feel like a quiet resistance to all of that.

To draw from observation, one must slow down internally - even if the mark making itself is  rapid. Drawing sharpens the senses, helping us notice what we might otherwise overlook. Anyone who draws regularly knows there is a quiet intensity in the process. The drawing itself becomes a record of lived attention, like a diary entry.

Studies have linked focused creative activity with reduced stress and improved wellbeing. Just as importantly, joining a class creates an opportunity to meet like-minded people and spend time looking closely together.

Now, draw! - and learn how to keep going…

  • If your first thought is, “But I can’t draw,”

try turning it into a different question: “Where do I begin?”

That’s where Now, Draw! comes in.

We welcome complete beginners alongside experienced artists. Each class has its own flavour and focus, allowing you to experiment, build confidence in gradually discovering your own artistic voice.

  • What We Offer

    In-Person Classes

    Skills Workshops & Courses

Structured, informative and practical, these workshops guide you through observational drawing with demonstrations, clear explanations, and individual feedback.

    Life Drawing

Life drawing is the practice of drawing the human figure from a live model - something artists have done for thousands of years. Susannah offers guidance throughout the session, moving around the room to give individual feedback and support for all experience levels.

    Online Classes

Join from the comfort of your own home using materials of your choice.

    Still Life Together

A calm and thoughtful way to start the week that many participants find surprisingly relaxing. You bring a small object of your choice to draw; Susannah brings one too, leading a series of exercises designed to help you observe more closely and draw with confidence. You can follow along with her drawing process or work independently. Sessions begin with ten minutes of seated yoga to help settle into the class.

Live Online Portrait & Life Drawing

Each week features a different professional model posing from their studio or home setting. Susannah provides a live commentary throughout the session, sharing practical advice and approaches to drawing. Participants can share work during breaks or at the end if they wish.

    Online Skills Workshops & Courses

More focused and theme-based sessions where Susannah demonstrates techniques step-by-step using a top-down camera setup, guiding participants through each stage of the process.
